It is manufactured by our preferred compounding pharmacy. Semaglutide is an under-the-skin, self-administered injectable prescription medicine for chronic weight management, used in addition to a reduced-calorie diet and increased exercise.

What To Expect

During your first visit, we will review your medical history and health goals. Baseline lab work is required. Once your results are available, your doctor will review them with you and discuss treatment options. If medication is prescribed, it will be shipped to your home (typically 1-2 weeks).

Semaglutide uses

Weight Loss

Obesity is a chronic health issue that requires long-term management and is associated with severe health complications, including heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea, asthma, hormonal concerns for women such as PCOS, arthritis, and certain types of cancer. Losing five to ten percent of body weight can bring impactful health benefits, such as:

•Reduced risk of cardiovascular disease
•Improved energy
•Improved blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels

In combination with a reduced calorie meal plan and increased physical activity, Semaglutide can be extremely effective in helping patients lose weight.

Semaglutide prescription FAQs

Prescription weight loss medication sent to your home.

How much does it cost and how can I pay

Semaglutide is normally quite expensive, averaging $1500 for a one month supply. At CompCare Urgent Care, you will only pay $699 for your first 8 week supply ($349/mo) since we work with pharmacies directly to save you money.

Most branded weight loss medications require prior authorization in order for insurance to cover the cost. In order to make prescribing as easy as possible for our patients, we only accept credit or debit card payments for this plan.

Is Semaglutide for weight loss effective?

Yes, Semaglutide is effective for weight loss; people taking it lost an average of 15% of their body weight.

In clinical studies, there were four separate 68-week trials in clinical studies that were randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled. In the trials, over 2,600 patients received Semaglutide while 1,500 received a placebo.

Over the 68 weeks, an average of 15% of body weight was lost, which equates on average to around 34 pounds for these patients treated with Semaglutide. Typically, the weight loss was steady for 16 months before hitting a plateau. Semaglutide is highly effective, especially when compared to the placebo group, which on average lost only 2.5% of body weight, or about six pounds.

How long do I take Semaglutide for?

Patients taking Semaglutide to lose weight saw significant weight loss, an average of 15% of body weight, or 34lbs, after 1 year. Semaglutide is FDA approved for long term, or chronic weight management. However, you can use for any duration.

How does Semaglutide help you lose weight?

Semaglutide helps with losing weight by targeting areas of the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. In this way, Semaglutide can help you lose weight by helping you stick to a reduced calorie diet, resulting in weight loss over the long term.

What is the difference between Semaglutide, Ozempic, Wegovy, and the other similar weight loss medications?

Although Semaglutide is similar to other semaglutide containing products, such as Ozempic, the main differences between Semaglutide and Ozempic are their intended consumer and the slight differences in dosing. Semaglutide was created for and can be used by anyone who is overweight and has health concerns, while Ozempic is FDA-approved for patients with type 2 diabetes.

That being said, they have a lot in common. They have the same active ingredient – semaglutide. However, the amount of semaglutide differs between the two, with Semaglutide final amount of semaglutide being 2.4mg, and Ozempic having four dosing options, 0.25 mg, 0.5mg, 1mg, and 2 mg.

If I miss a dose of medication, how do I restart the program?

If you miss a single weeks dose, you can resume the following week at the previous dose. If you miss 2 or more weeks of treatment, we recommend that you resume at the starting dose (10 Units) and begin increasing by 5 units weekly until you reach your previous maintenance dose. Contact your treating provider if you need assistance.

How often do I follow up?

We recommend that you follow up within 2 weeks of starting treatment, at the 6th week of your first prescription, then every 3-6months thereafter. If you have questions, contact us anytime.
